Operations Manager Trainee

About the Role

The Operations Manager Trainee is a key position in our organization, responsible for learning the skills and knowledge necessary to independently manage a financially viable dental office. As an Operations Manager Trainee, you will be part of our OM Development Program, which will provide you with the training and support you need to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities
  • Model Company Culture: You will be responsible for modeling our company culture, values, and standards, and for creating an environment that promotes PDS culture and values.
  • Team Management: You will be responsible for assessing, hiring, and retaining the right team members, and for providing comprehensive training, supervision, counseling, and coaching to ensure their success.
  • Issue Resolution: You will be responsible for assessing, investigating, and resolving staff and patient issues, and for developing timely, effective, and logical solutions.
  • Operational Execution: You will be responsible for executing our PDS Operational Model with consistency, and for meeting identified office imperatives in partnership with the Owner Dentist.
  • Revenue and Profit Growth: You will be responsible for driving year-over-year revenue and profit growth, and for managing expenses to achieve monthly goals and budget.
  • Cash Management and Accounting: You will be responsible for showing proficiency and adherence to cash management and accounting protocols.
  • Team Development: You will be responsible for being the catalyst in team development of the Perfect Patient Experience, and for delivering effective leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members.
  • Communication: You will be responsible for maintaining open and trust-based relationships with direct supervisors, and for addressing issues and concerns openly and early.
  • Professional Appearance and Demeanor: You will be responsible for maintaining an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor, and for addressing others professionally and respectfully.
  • Compliance: You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies, as well as state, federal, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Reporting: You will be responsible for reporting weekly to the Regional Manager, detailing accomplishments, areas for improvement, clear performance goals, and effectiveness of systems.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Five or more years of related work experience in operational management.
  • License and Insurance: Valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
  • Travel: Reliable means of transportation to travel to multiple offices per day, in some cases several times per day.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Associate degree or Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience: Five or more years of experience leading a team, mentoring, and coaching subordinates.

  • Knowledge of Dental Plans, Insurances, and Administrative Guidelines: Requires knowledge of dental plans, insurances, fees, administrative guidelines, limitations, and exclusions, reporting systems, business correspondence, and business reporting techniques, and business principles of profit and loss statements.
  • Skills: Use of knowledge of all Microsoft Applications, Epic, 1VU, BOX, and use of standard office equipment.

Work Environment
  • Sedentary Office Classification: This is primarily a sedentary office classification but may require field visits and driving. Temperature conditions are controlled with no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances.
  • Noise Level: The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. There is occasional exposure to irate team members, vendors, or patients.
  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, keyboard, to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, see, talk, and hear. The team member will frequently lift and/or carry reports, records, and other materials that typically weigh less than 40 pounds. The team member is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch.
  • Finger Dexterity: Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, calculator, and other standard office equipment.
