Job Summary

As a Lead MRI Technologist at EvergreenHealth, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily activities of the MRI department, ensuring the highest level of patient care and diagnostic accuracy. This position requires strong leadership and technical skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with radiologists, patients, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform complex MRI examinations and procedures, including injecting contrast media under the supervision of a radiologist.
  • Analyze patient conditions to determine the best examination approach and ensure patient safety.
  • Assist patients in preparing for studies, review procedures, and address concerns.
  • Control access to the magnet room and follow magnetic safety protocols.
  • Provide protection and ensure compliance with MRI safety standards.
  • Notify radiologists of positive screening responses as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Lead Duties
  • Oversee daily clinical activity and coordinate patient/employee ratios.
  • Monitor staffing grids and implement low census policies when possible.
  • Ensure thoroughness and safety of examinations while prioritizing clinical needs.
  • Maintain examination schedules in a productive manner, balancing clinical responsibility among staff.
  • Delegate special work assignments when volumes allow.
  • Complete staff time cards and submit them to the manager for review.
  • Maintain section policy/procedure manuals and exam protocol manuals.
  • Support and participate in quality control and quality assurance standards and programs.
  • Have knowledge of and actively participate in review of JC requirements.
  • Provide in-service and orientation to new employees and ancillary personnel as required.
  • Ensure completeness of required documents, such as licensure, certification, and registration.
  • Coordinate equipment repair and maintenance through the manager, ensuring minimal impact on patient care and productivity.
  • Maintain inventory levels sufficient for examination requirements while adhering to budget guidelines.
  • Confer with the manager regularly to discuss productivity, budget status, and overall direction of responsibility.
  • Immediately communicate exceptions to department and hospital policies.
  • Develop and distribute call, standby, and vacation/attendance schedules for approval by the direct supervisor.
  • Attend and actively participate in lead technologist meetings.
  • Communicate regularly with radiologists to tailor examinations to clinical needs.
  • Aid in the development of new procedures and policies.
  • Assist the supervisor with TQA programs and promote technologist participation.
  • Review images for technical quality and provide guidance to technologists.
  • May be asked to lead, monitor, or oversee other specialty areas.
Requirements
  • Leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Current ARRT or ARMRIT certification or registry eligibility.
  • Current WA State Radiologic Technologist licensure.
  • Registered in MRI Technology within one year of start.
  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification by date of hire.
  • Training specific to the operation and performance of MRI scanners.
Desired Qualifications
  • 1 year of experience in a radiology setting.
