Job Summary

As a Lead MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily clinical activities and coordination of patient/employee ratios in the MRI department. You will monitor staffing grids to institute low census policies when possible and ensure thoroughness and safety of examinations while setting priority of clinical need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily clinical activity and coordination of patient/employee ratios
  • Monitor staffing grid to institute low census policies when possible
  • Ensure thoroughness and safety of examinations while setting priority of clinical need
  • Maintain examination schedule in the most productive manner with a balance of clinical responsibility shared between staff
  • Delegate special work assignments when volumes allow
  • Complete staff time cards for area and submit to Manager for signature and final review
  • Maintain section policy/procedure manuals as well as exam protocol manuals
  • Support, develop, and participate in quality control and quality assurance standards and programs
  • Have knowledge of and actively participate in review of JC requirements
  • Provide in-service and orientation to new employees in the section and ancillary personnel as required
  • Ensure and record completeness of required documents of licensure, certification, and registration as related to section
  • Coordinate repair and maintenance of equipment through Manager in a manner not to insult patient care, productivity, or after-hours work if possible
  • Maintain inventory levels in the section sufficient for examination requirements while complying with budget guidelines as outlined by DI Manager
  • Confer with the Manager on a regular basis for discussion of productivity, budget status, and overall direction of responsibility
  • Immediately communicate all exceptions to department and hospital policies
  • Develop call, standby, and vacation/attendance schedule for approval by direct supervisor no less than one month prior to distribution
  • Attend and actively participate in lead technologist meetings
  • Communicate on a regular basis with radiologists on the best approach to tailor examination to clinical need
  • Aid in development of new procedures and policies
  • Assist supervisor with TQA (technical quality assurance) programs; promote technologist participation
  • Review images for technical quality and guidance for technologists
  • May be asked to Lead/Monitor/Oversee other specialty areas
Requirements
  • Leadership or supervisory experience
  • Current ARRT or ARMRIT certification or registry eligible
  • Current WA State Radiologic Technologist licensure
  • Registered in MRI Technology within one year of start
  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification by date of hire
  • Training specific to the operation and performance of MRI scanners
Desired Qualifications
  • 1 year of experience in a radiology setting
