Job Summary

SpaceX is seeking a highly skilled Mission Control Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing mission trajectories for our Falcon launch vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize mission trajectories for Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy launch vehicles, including ascent, entry, and landing phases.
  • Develop and verify flight constants and guidance parameters to meet mission requirements.
  • Support launch and mission operations, including pre-flight testing, console operation, and post-flight data review.
  • Develop software automation tools for mission design, analysis, and reporting.
  • Perform trade studies to improve launch vehicle performance and reliability.
  • Implement new software or algorithms to support mission unique capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute current missions and develop future business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in physics or an engineering discipline and 5+ years of professional experience in GNC or software engineering; or an advanced degree in physics or an engineering discipline with 3+ years of professional experience in GNC or software engineering.
  • Experience with orbital mechanics, classical dynamics, modeling, and simulation.
  • Proficiency in software languages C++ and Python.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in physics or an engineering discipline.
  • Experience with developed, debugged, and deployed software used in real-world applications.
  • Demonstrated project or professional experience in launch vehicle and/or spacecraft systems.
  • Ability to solve complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team.
  • Passion for advancing the commercial space industry and human spaceflight.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Compensation and Benefits

SpaceX offers a competitive salary range of $160,000 to $220,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, you may be eligible for long-term incentives, comprehensive medical and dental coverage, 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other benefits.
