Xcaliber International is looking for an Instrumentation and Electrical (I/E) Technician to join our team.

Position Overview: The I/E Technician plays a crucial role in the installation, upkeep, calibration, and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems within a manufacturing environment. This position is vital to ensuring that all machinery operates effectively and securely, in compliance with industry standards and regulations.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Maintenance of Electrical and Instrumentation Systems:

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot various electrical and instrumentation systems, including PLCs, SCADA, sensors, motors, control panels, and HMI interfaces.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on all electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Calibrate and configure instrumentation devices to guarantee precise readings and control.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
  • Oversee the performance of electrical and instrumentation systems to detect potential issues.
  • Identify and rectify faults in electrical circuits, control systems, SCADA, HMI interfaces, and instrumentation devices.
  • Employ diagnostic tools and software to accurately diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions.
Safety and Regulatory Compliance:
  • Follow all safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations concerning electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Keep precise records of maintenance activities, calibrations, and repairs.
Installation and System Enhancements:
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Propose and implement upgrades to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams on equipment modifications and enhancements.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all instrumentation and electrical work, including maintenance logs, calibration reports, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
  • Generate reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and equipment status.
  • Ensure documentation is current and accessible for reference and compliance audits.
Automation and Control Systems:
  • Engage with automation systems to optimize and sustain manufacturing processes.
  • Configure and program PLCs and other automation controllers to improve system performance.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
  • Work closely with other maintenance personnel, engineers, and production staff to coordinate activities and minimize production disruptions.
  • Provide training and support to junior technicians and apprentices.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to tackle complex technical challenges and enhance overall plant performance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate degree or technical certification in instrumentation, electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in instrumentation and electrical maintenance, ideally in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, DCS, HMI systems, automation, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and industrial control networks.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing, climbing, and lifting heavy objects.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in electrical and instrumentation maintenance.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Work is conducted in a manufacturing facility.
  • Exposure to high temperatures, loud noises, and industrial equipment.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
