Anesthesia Equipment Specialist

Under the direct supervision of the Anesthesiologist and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), the Anesthesia Technical Assistant is responsible for setting up, troubleshooting, and maintaining all anesthesia equipment in the operating room. This includes calibrating and zeroing monitors, assembling ventilator circuits, and preparing procedural equipment.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintains and services all electronic and mechanical equipment used by Anesthesia Department personnel.
- Operates, calibrates, and performs routine maintenance on various technical equipment, including anesthesia machines, monitors, and pulse oximeters.
- Identifies and troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment, referring complex issues to technical repair personnel.
- Assists in establishing and maintaining a regular schedule of preventive maintenance and calibration of monitors.
- Supports Anesthesia Providers during regional anesthesia procedures, such as spinal and epidural insertions.
- Applies monitoring devices to patients and operates common physiological monitors.
- Removes and disposes of equipment and supplies after use, restocking room carts and maintaining inventory.
- Orders supplies and maintains an inventory in the main anesthesia workroom.
- Hospital experience with an understanding of anesthesia equipment and operations.
- Working knowledge of Anesthesia department procedures and protocols.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic instruments and treatment procedures.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence and present information to customers and colleagues.
- Basic Life Support certification.
