Position Title: Accountant Level I - (SECRET CLEARANCE)

Position Overview: MILVETS is actively seeking a full-time Accountant Level I - (SECRET CLEARANCE) to provide support to government operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a range of budgetary functions to implement the organization's financial management program, policies, and procedures.
  • Analyze and develop program requirements; prepare, monitor, justify, and defend budgets; track acquisition schedules and program milestones; monitor obligations and expenditures throughout the contract execution phase; initiate and manage procurement and budget documentation.
  • Assist in generating various budgetary reports, from simple data requests to complex analytical outputs.
  • Oversee budget and funding execution using GFEBS and LMP, collaborating with Program Analysts to ensure balanced budgets and funding requirements.
  • Prepare execution documents, including Military Interdepartmental Purchase Requests (MIPRs), Procurement Work Directives (PWDs), and funding reports.
  • Ensure the accuracy of budget data estimates through statistical techniques, such as extensions, averages, and trend analysis of historical data.
  • Monitor and track obligations and expenditures for assigned accounts, ensuring compliance with budgetary forms, schedules, and reports.
  • Verify timely obligations and expenditures in accordance with the annual work plan and regulatory controls.
  • Independently resolve any discrepancies related to budgetary matters.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.

Substitutions: Four (4) additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.

Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience with GFEBS, including preparation of execution documentation such as MIPRs, and LMP experience in preparing PWDs, along with financial reporting on the status of funds (SOF) and financial management experience with appropriated funding sources. This experience must be with DoD Program Executive Office (PEO), Project Manager (O6 PM), or Product Manager (O5 PdM) to be considered applicable.

Preferred Qualifications: Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) credential from the Army Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC).

Clearance Requirement: Selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; an Active United States Department of Defense Secret clearance is mandatory.
