Job Summary

ContextGlobal, Inc. is a leading language service provider seeking a skilled ASL Interpreter to provide on-demand interpreting services within the DMV community.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in American Sign Language and able to effectively facilitate communication in diverse settings, including educational institutions and local government agencies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-call ASL interpretation for various assignments, including classroom settings, school meetings, government meetings and events, and community programs.
  • E nsure effective communication between Deaf and hearing individuals.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interpreting situations.
  • Adapt to varying environments and accommodate the needs of clients.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in interpreting in educational and governmental contexts.
  • Strong understanding of Deaf culture and community.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Customer service skills and ability to interact with colleagues from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability to work on short notice and adapt to changing schedules.
  • Completion of an Interpreter Training Program or three years of experience as a sign language interpreter.
  • Certification is not required, but EIPA and NIC Certification are preferred.
