Position Overview:


The Senior Laboratory Technician role is crucial for delivering exceptional service to the laboratory, ensuring prompt and precise specimen management across various laboratory sections, including collaboration with both internal and external lab personnel while thriving in a fast-paced environment.

This position also offers advanced technical support at the intersection of scientific research and clinical laboratory operations concerning clinical specimen processing and testing.

To ensure the safety of our patients, families, and staff, the seasonal influenza vaccine is a requirement for all employees within our organization.

New hires must be prepared to provide immunization records as evidence of vaccination against measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), chicken pox (varicella), and/or demonstrate proof of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005.

If selected for this role, you will be required to submit your immunization documentation.

Should you have any concerns regarding these vaccinations, medical and/or religious exemptions can be discussed with Human Resources.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficient handling and distribution of specimens.
  • Proficient use of Information Systems.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders in alignment with CMH shared values and service excellence initiatives.
  • Overseeing general laboratory operations and conducting quality assurance activities utilizing molecular biology techniques, including PCR, cloning, and vector construction to investigate cellular and molecular mechanisms of interest.
  • Executing microinjection and electroporation techniques, along with RNA methodologies such as multiplexed fluorescence in situ hybridization and RT-PCR.
  • Conducting data collection and image analysis/quantification through laser scanning confocal microscopy.
  • Assisting with media preparation and tissue culture as part of the role.
  • Engaging in team-based projects with an individual research component.

Qualifications:
Associate's Degree with 3-5 years of relevant laboratory experience or

Bachelor's Degree with 1-2 years of relevant laboratory experience.

Compensation:
Our salary ranges are competitive within the market.

The compensation for this position starts at $23.02/hr, but your specific offer will be based on your qualifications and experience.


Work Environment:

This position is not eligible for remote work, requiring the individual to work onsite at one of our Children's Mercy locations.
