Medical Technologist Job Description

Yoakum Community Hospital is seeking a skilled Medical Technologist to perform medical laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify patient identities and collect and label specimens
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid
  • Analyze test results and maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and keep track of supplies
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology from a four-year college or university
  • Prior experience and/or training in a related role preferred
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist and registration with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team
