Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Richmond, VA office as an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer. This role is ideal for candidates eager to develop both field and analytical skills, with a strong desire to grow professionally within a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize GIS and GPS technologies to assist in planning and executing geotechnical fieldwork.
- Document test borings and prepare basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS.
- Assign and evaluate laboratory tests.
- Conduct calculations to support geotechnical designs.
- Assist in the preparation of geotechnical reports and proposals.
- Monitor geotechnical-related construction activities and perform materials testing.
- Organize and coordinate geotechnical and materials testing fieldwork.
- Prepare detailed field reports and review geotechnical and materials testing reports.
Qualifications:
- 0-2 years of relevant professional experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Positive attitude and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong work ethic with a commitment to continuous self-improvement.
- Willingness to perform fieldwork and travel, including potential extended assignments.
- Physical capability to lift 60 pounds and navigate construction sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous internship or professional experience in a related field (e.g., geotechnical engineering, construction, civil engineering).
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Completion of geotechnical-focused undergraduate coursework.
- EIT certification.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to pass a background check, including criminal history and motor vehicle record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
