Geotechnical Internship

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Geotechnical Intern to join our team at ECS Mid-Atlantic, LLC. As a Geotechnical Intern, you will assist our experienced engineers in performing and recommending lab testing, foundation analysis, and scheduling of drill rigs for geotechnical projects.

• Assist with performing and/or recommending lab testing to ensure accurate and reliable results.
• Contribute to foundation analysis and recommendations to ensure safe and stable structures.
• Schedule drill rigs for geotechnical projects, ensuring timely and efficient execution.
• Obtain utility clearance for subsurface explorations, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Assist with determining appropriate subsurface exploration programs and preparing drilling instructions.
• Classify soil samples to inform geotechnical design and construction decisions.
• Perform hand augers to obtain subsurface information and soil samples, providing valuable insights for project development.
• Observe foundation or ground improvement installations, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree in civil engineering, geology, or a related field.
• Interest in how structures are supported and a desire to think creatively and outside the box.
• Previous internship experience required, with a strong understanding of geotechnical principles and practices.
• Ability to provide suitable transportation for use on job sites, with mileage reimbursement provided.
• Position requires carrying heavy loads multiple times a day or occasionally lifting 85 lbs to waist height.
