Position Title: Custodian

Job Overview:

The Custodian plays a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment within the school premises. This position involves a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks under the supervision of school administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Secure the building at the start and end of each shift to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  • Perform thorough cleaning of classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, offices, stairways, and other designated areas according to established standards.
  • Execute floor care tasks including sweeping, mopping, buffing, stripping, and waxing.
  • Maintain carpets and upholstery by cleaning rugs, carpets, and furniture.
  • Wash and maintain walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills.
  • Remove graffiti and clean glass surfaces.
  • Replace light bulbs as needed.
  • Set up and dismantle furniture and equipment for meetings and events.
  • Clear snow from entrances and walkways, applying sand and ice-melting agents as necessary.
  • Conduct grounds maintenance by clearing debris and ensuring the outdoor areas are tidy.

Qualifications:

While prior experience in cleaning or groundskeeping is preferred, it is not mandatory. A Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) is required, including fingerprinting.
