Job Overview

Insight Global is on the lookout for a seasoned Android Application Engineer to work remotely for a prominent streaming service.

This role involves the design and development of robust, scalable, and maintainable Android applications tailored for both mobile and television platforms, adhering to industry best practices and standards.

As a senior member of the Android development team, the candidate will leverage Kotlin and Jetpack Compose to create modern, efficient, and user-centric streaming applications, while implementing MVVM architecture principles to ensure a clear separation of concerns and facilitate testable code.

Expertise in design patterns is essential, as the candidate will need to identify and apply suitable design patterns to address complex software design challenges.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with product managers, designers, and backend developers to deliver high-quality streaming applications, as well as conducting code reviews and mentoring junior developers.

A primary objective of the team is to enhance application performance for speed and scalability, establishing a solid foundation for the platform.

Compensation: $70-85/hr

Qualifications

Essential Skills:
  • 5-7 years of experience as an Android developer, with a strong background in Android architecture design.
  • Proven experience in developing high-quality, scalable Android applications for mobile and TV platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of Android SDK, various Android versions, and adapting to different screen sizes, including TV displays.
  • Deep understanding of MVVM architecture and its implementation.
  • Ability to identify and apply relevant design patterns to solve intricate software design issues (e.g., Singleton, Factory, Observer, Dependency Injection).
  • Experience with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for developing efficient and user-friendly streaming applications.
  • Excellent communication skills and capability to work collaboratively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA.
  • Knowledge of cloud services and infrastructure.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to backend services.
