Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Medical Officer to lead our medical staff and oversee the medical affairs of our hospital. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing strategies to achieve our goals of quality patient care, improved clinical outcomes, and medical expense management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical direction to the medical staff, ensuring compliance with facility policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of patient care, making recommendations for improvement as needed.
  • Lead process improvement activities to enhance clinical and non-clinical processes, promoting better outcomes.
  • Develop and implement written medical policies, ensuring alignment with high-quality care standards.
  • Coordinate credentialing and privileging of physicians and allied health professionals.
  • Assist with strategic and medical staff planning, ensuring alignment with facility goals.
  • Attend meetings to provide medical direction to facility staff, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Develop and lead the Medical Staff Leadership program, mentoring and supporting new medical staff leaders.
  • Serve as an interface between Medical Staff and facility administration, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records, ensuring compliance with facility, governmental, and JCAHO requirements.
Requirements
  • Board certification in a medical specialty.
  • License to practice medicine in the State of Utah.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Demonstrated competence in a medical field.
  • Holds medical staff privileges at assigned hospital.
  • Three years of experience in medical staff leadership.
  • Experience in a role requiring a collaborative style and ability to work effectively with colleagues.
  • Experience in a role requiring effective conflict resolution skills to work effectively with difficult issues.
  • Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a medical director and president of medical staff.
Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to interact with others, verbally communicate, and hear and understand spoken information. The employee must be able to operate computers, telephones, and office equipment, and manipulate paper. The employee must also be able to see and read computer monitors and documents, and remain sitting or standing for long periods of time. The employee must be able to frequently interact with patient care providers, patients, and visitors, and must be able to manually dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
