This Medical Assistant role at Heights Clinic is an exciting opportunity to join our team and contribute to delivering exceptional patient care. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our healthcare providers and ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic.
Key Responsibilities- Perform general administrative and patient care tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-disciplinary care team.
- Prepare patients for healthcare providers while maintaining a positive and caring attitude.
- Coordinate care, administer care, and document patient information accurately.
- Ensure patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights by observing HIPAA regulations.
- Obtain and record patient information, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, current medications, medical history, and chief complaint.
- Demonstrate knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
- May be required to draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Perform routine tests, including EKGs, hearing, and vision screens, as requested by healthcare providers.
- Schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follow-up as necessary to ensure completion of testing.
- Communicate test results to patients and establish a plan of care by phone or mail as directed by healthcare providers.
- Document patient plans of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record as directed by healthcare providers.
- Prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment; stock patient exam rooms while maintaining cleanliness and organization.
- Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration.
- Escalate non-routine issues, questions, and/or concerns to the practice manager and/or healthcare providers.
- Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Current BLS Certification is required upon hire or within 60 days of hire upon approval.
- One (1) year Medical Assistant experience, including phlebotomy experience.
- Successful completion of initial MA onboarding within 90 days, annual skills fair, and in-services for site-specific tasks is required.
- Ability to successfully function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy are required.
- Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
- Successful completion of an Accredited National Certification Exam for Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is preferred.
This role requires regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts. The ability to understand and apply information, policies, procedures, and skills required by the position is essential. Knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations, as well as medical practice and care, is necessary to provide safe and quality patient care.
This role requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, and the ability to navigate crowded and busy rooms. The ability to stand in a stationary position for an extended period is also required.
