Summit Pathology Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our dynamic team as a Laboratory Technician. This role is essential in supporting our pathology operations and ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate specimen integrity, implement necessary adjustments, and prepare samples for analysis.
- Accurately enter and manage specimen data within the laboratory information system.
- Ensure precise identification and logging of specimens, maintaining rigorous quality control.
- Organize and maintain the filing of specimens and related documentation.
- Rotate through various healthcare facilities to gain comprehensive experience across different environments.
- Assist in routine procedures, including fine needle aspirations and biopsies, ensuring proper preparation and staining of slides.
- Support the handling of frozen section specimens from surgical operations.
- Manage inventory and organization of offsite gross examination areas.
- Engage with hospital personnel and respond to inquiries, demonstrating excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to fulfill laboratory duties and achieve departmental objectives.
- Participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and laboratory processes, sharing insights with colleagues and mentoring new staff as needed.
- Adhere to established protocols and demonstrate proficiency in all required tasks.
- Comply with safety regulations and report any hazardous conditions, participating in safety training sessions.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to meet the evolving needs of the laboratory.
- Education: An associate degree or higher in a laboratory science from an accredited institution is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Ability to work autonomously and effectively resolve challenges.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and protecting patient information.
- Exceptional customer service abilities.
- Proficient in using various computer systems for data management.
- Familiarity with human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Prior experience in data entry or a laboratory/healthcare setting is advantageous.
