Summary:
Performs training, competency assessment, and regulatory oversight for Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) waived and moderate-complexity testing. This position supports system activity.
Responsibilities:
- Acts as a technical consultant by demonstrating technical and professional ability to oversee waived and moderate complexity testing procedures as defined by CLIA.
- Maintains CLIA licensure and inspection readiness for each laboratory location.
- Provides education, training, and competency assessment, as needed, at each laboratory location. Trains staff and performs competency assessment for CLIA waived and moderate-complexity testing as governed by regulation.
- Assists with instrument and testing issues at each laboratory location. Recognizes testing issues and find solutions. Writes testing procedures. Assists with instrument troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or medical laboratory science or medical technology.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Technician, Technologist in Chemistry, Technologist in Hematology, Technologist in Microbiology, or Technologist in Molecular Biology by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
- 2 years of experience in non-waived testing.
