Position Overview
As a Financial Operations Specialist at Sacred Heart University, you will play a crucial role in the management and oversight of financial transactions and records. This position is essential for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial data within the institution.

Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct thorough research on current accounts and historical financial data to provide detailed insights that are not readily available.
2. Perform balancing and reconciliation of various accounts to maintain financial accuracy.
3. Process a wide range of financial transactions and requests for the establishment of additional accounting records.
4. Verify the accuracy, completeness, and validity of numerous financial functions and transactions, including obligations, expenditures, disbursements, and collections.
5. Assist in the implementation and maintenance of Internal Control Program requirements to safeguard against financial discrepancies.

Conditions of Employment
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Background or Security Investigation may be required based on the position.
- Registered for Selective Service (for males born after a certain date).
- Suitable for Federal employment.

Qualifications
This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense. Qualified candidates must possess related financial experience or a relevant financial degree, such as Finance, Accounting, or Management. Additionally, candidates must meet the minimum qualification requirements set by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).

Experience Requirements
Applicants should have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade within the federal service, demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes:
- Performing financial duties that support the processing of financial transactions using standardized procedures.
- Reviewing documents for accuracy and inputting financial information into automated systems.

Volunteer Experience
Experience gained through paid and unpaid work, including volunteer roles, will be considered valuable and can contribute to your qualifications for this position.

Security Designation
The security designation for this position may vary and could require a secret clearance or higher. Employment in this role necessitates a background investigation, which may affect the starting date.

Education
Applicants must have related financial experience or a relevant financial degree. A combination of education and experience may be used to meet the total experience requirements. A percentage of education that directly relates to the work of the position may count towards the experience requirement.
