Position Summary:

The main responsibility of the Project Engineer Intern is to support the project team with various administrative and engineering tasks related to a specific construction project.

Key Responsibilities:

The responsibilities and expectations of the Project Engineer Intern generally include, but are not limited to:

Technical Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting up the job office
  • Support the project team with the initial configuration of CMiC, including the Submittal Log Registry
  • Prepare and maintain Submittal Logs
  • Help the project team with the initial organization of PlanGrid for contract documents
  • Assist in managing progress photo documentation using PlanGrid
  • Facilitate the entry of RFIs in CMiC and distribute them to relevant project team members
  • Maintain RFI Logs in CMiC
  • Assist in posting RFIs to Contract Documents and ensure the accuracy of project as-builts
  • Update the Material Procurement Log and expedite the procurement of materials and equipment
  • Collaborate with project PEs, SPEs, and APMs to compile contract closeout documents (O&M manuals, As-Builts, etc.)
  • Attend project meetings and assist in preparing and distributing meeting minutes
  • Help create and organize all closeout binders
  • Support the project team with meeting minutes as needed

Management Responsibilities

  • Assist in procuring closeout submittals
  • Help prepare and distribute punch lists and maintain them in PlanGrid
  • Support Superintendents in schedule maintenance
  • Assist in procuring all front-end Submittals
  • Follow up with Subcontractors and Material Suppliers to ensure timely material deliveries to the site

Qualifications:

  • This is an entry-level position intended for undergraduate students and current employees aiming for a management role (project management, superintending, scheduling, safety, etc.)
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Basic understanding of scheduling and CMiC applications
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with fundamental construction administration processes, including construction documents, schedules, RFIs, submittals, and material procurement

Non-Exempt

Reporting Structure:

Reports to the Project Manager or designated supervisors

Physical Requirements:

This role requires the physical ability to use construction personnel hoists, climb ladders, and navigate construction sites. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position necessitates the use of hands for handling objects, tools, or controls, as well as the ability to sit, talk, hear, and stand throughout the workday.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in one of W.E. O'Neil's regional offices and may occasionally visit construction sites, where exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, airborne particles, and outside weather conditions may occur. Noise levels in these environments can range from moderate to very loud.
