Pharmacy Technician III

The Pharmacy Technician III is a key member of the pharmacy team at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford, responsible for performing complex duties in sterile and non-sterile compounding, medication management, and workflow optimization.
Key Responsibilities- Performs sterile and non-sterile compounding for hazardous and non-hazardous drugs, ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Assists pharmacists with messaging requests, facilitates resolutions, and optimizes workflows to improve efficiency.
- Runs next fill reports to anticipate and prepare compounded suspensions, and assesses stock inventory to suggest par level adjustments.
- Audits and monitors incomplete documentation for compounding/repackaging and other routine tasks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Distributes medications, assesses and optimizes current workflows, and modifies training materials to provide feedback to trainees and managers.
- Assists buyers with managing drug shortages, recalls, and overstocks, and performs drip rounds to identify reasons for duplicative or missing drip dispenses.
- Reconciles discrepancies in automated dispensing cabinets (ADC), runs reports, and modifies bins for new drugs, and troubleshoots hardware or inventory issues.
- Performs total parenteral nutrition (TPN) compounding and troubleshoots device malfunctions.
- Completes at least one advanced assignment, such as staffing outside the main pharmacies, compounding chemotherapy drugs, or performing core ADC work.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of sterile compounding and inpatient hospital experience.
- Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician by the California Board of Pharmacy, or equivalent.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician credential issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
- Specialized certification in sterile compounding, chemotherapy, or other relevant areas.
The Pharmacy Technician III works in a fast-paced environment, requiring adaptability and strong communication skills. The role involves working with devices, information systems, and technical equipment used in pharmacy operations.
