Job Summary:

The Medical Record Director will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the management of health records for all California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) institutions and the Health and Imaging Records Center.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and training programs for health information management staff.
  • Lead the development of technical competencies, decision support, and management reports.
  • Collaborate with the Chief of Health Information Management to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to health information management staff on clinical documentation, coding, and data analysis.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including healthcare providers, administrators, and other departments.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Health Information Management or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in health information management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and ICD-10.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
