Position Overview

The Purchasing Manager is accountable for the formulation and execution of Supply Chain strategies, including Scheduling and Purchase Estimating for North America.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Collaborating with functional leaders and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment in supply planning and sourcing priorities for various programs.

· Overseeing tactical supply planning and execution as well as managing the supplier network.

· Working alongside internal and external functional leaders to design and implement programs and initiatives effectively.

· Leading and managing the purchasing team, providing ongoing coaching and performance reviews to foster team development and enhance quality.

· Developing and implementing processes within the department to continuously improve quality and efficiency.

· Overseeing the Sourcing Strategy for Direct, Indirect, and Services.

· Establishing departmental and personal goals that can be measured through KPIs, aiming for year-over-year improvements.

· Identifying and leveraging strategic opportunities that provide significant advantages for UTEC, focusing on quality, delivery, and cost efficiency.

· Building and nurturing relationships with current and new vendors to enhance supplier performance in terms of delivery, quality, and cost. Creating supplier scorecards to evaluate supplier performance.

· Researching and identifying new vendors to strengthen the supply chain base for UTEC.

· Negotiating pricing and contracts with suppliers.

· Coordinating delivery schedules to ensure timely receipt of products from suppliers.

· Addressing quality or timeliness issues with suppliers through a corrective action process.

· Maintaining financial records of past orders and reviewing these for cost, delivery, and vendor performance insights.

· Participating in kick-off meetings, buy-offs, and other relevant conferences to stay informed about the latest developments in jobs, products, and proposals.

· Organizing departmental meetings to communicate job structures, budgets, and timelines.

· Understanding and adhering to safety and environmental regulations while identifying any safety or environmental concerns.

· Complying with Quality Systems and engaging in continuous improvement initiatives.

· Regular and predictable attendance is essential for this role.

Supervisory Role

Responsible for leading, coaching, and mentoring the entire purchasing team.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school; or 25 years of related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe.

Communication Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence. Effective in speaking before groups of customers or employees within the organization.
