Position: MOBILE BENEFITS ADVISOR
Hours: FULL TIME

Role Summary: As a Mobile Benefits Advisor, you will provide guidance on benefits to individuals with disabilities who are transitioning back into the workforce. A strong understanding of Social Security and Department of Social Services regulations is essential, along with knowledge of SSI, SSDI, PASS Plans, and Medicare/Medicaid programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver program outcomes for clients with mental health challenges.
  • Complete the online SOAR Works training within the initial six months of employment.
  • Engage in committees and facilitate classes, workshops, and training sessions across Dutchess County.
  • Provide current information on laws and regulations related to SSI, SSDI, and other benefit programs to in-house staff and partner agencies.
  • Attend planning meetings, in-service training, public forums, and relevant Job Placement Consortium meetings.
  • Prepare quarterly, annual, and other required data reports.
  • Maintain effective communication with local SSA and DCFS offices, as well as other partner organizations.
  • Utilize digital communication tools, such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams, to connect with clients.
  • Perform additional program-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree or a two-year degree combined with a minimum of three years of professional experience in the human services sector.
  • Preferred familiarity with Social Security Benefits and Department of Social Services programs.
  • Understanding of Independent Living philosophy and disability advocacy.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Publisher.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • Knowledgeable about NYS Medicaid, Medicare, DCFS/DSS, and SSA programs.

A valid driver's license is required.

Experience as a peer support worker is advantageous.
