Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Member Service Representative I to join our team at CBC Federal Credit Union. As a key member of our branch team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our members, handling cash and negotiable instruments, and performing various account servicing functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service to members, responding promptly to their needs and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Process deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cash advances, and other transactions, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Open and close share accounts, re-order checks, place stop payments, and submit items for special processing.
  • Assist members with account inquiries, such as account balances, transaction history, and other various inquiries.
  • Review account information for restrictions and funds availability, providing information on account status and account actions.
  • Process bank wires and Western Union requests, and submit requests for internal transfers.
  • Verify and update member records, including name, address, telephone numbers, and other relevant information.
  • Provide notary services, if commissioned.
  • Comply with the Bank Secrecy Act, including Customer Identification Program and required reporting.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; experience in a customer service position, preferably in a financial institution, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of credit union products and services, as well as state and federal regulations applicable to the duties performed in this position.
  • Member service skills, including responding promptly to member needs, following through on member commitments, and managing difficult member situations.
  • Interpersonal skills, including treating members and employees with respect, focusing on solving conflict, and keeping emotions under control.
  • Basic computer and 10-key skills, including knowledge of email, basic word processing, and the Internet.
  • Reasoning ability, including applying common sense to understand, interpret, and carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, speak clearly and persuasively, and respond well to questions.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence in a clear and informative manner, read and interpret documents and procedural manuals, and follow instructions and respond to management direction.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, and perform these mathematical operations using units of American money.
  • Ability to demonstrate good quality work, including accuracy and thoroughness, and apply feedback to improve performance and monitor own work to ensure quality.
  • Ability to meet productivity standards, strive to increase productivity, and work quickly and complete work in a timely manner.
