Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Elementary Education Assistant to join our team at Fort Bend ISD. The successful candidate will provide instructional support to students and teachers, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide coverage for the classroom teacher as needed, ensuring continuity of instruction and student learning.
  • Assist with classroom management, maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all students.
  • Collaborate with substitute teachers to provide instruction and support to students, promoting academic success and social growth.
  • Collect and document student progress, working closely with teachers to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.
  • Assist with administering assessments, ensuring accurate and reliable data for teacher and student use.
Campus Support
  • Participate in various committees and attend required campus and/or district meetings, staying informed about district initiatives and policies.
  • Supervise students before, during, and after school, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Assist with the safe and orderly movement of students to and from classrooms, promoting a positive and respectful school culture.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information, adhering to district policies and procedures.
  • Perform various clerical tasks, including typing correspondence, copying materials, and responding to emails.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 48 college hours or passing score on the Para Professional Assessment of Knowledge.
  • Texas Educational Aide Certification, to be obtained within 10 days of hire.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with elementary age children and knowledge of the learning process.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate a variety of classroom instructional equipment, including computers, audio/visual, and video equipment.

Work is performed in classrooms, offices, work stations, and meeting rooms. The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting/carrying work-related items weighing less than 40 pounds. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
