Job Summary

Fort Bend ISD is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Elementary Education Assistant to join our team. As an Elementary Education Assistant, you will provide instructional support to students and teachers, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide coverage for the classroom teacher as needed, ensuring continuity of instruction and student learning.
  • Assist with classroom management, maintaining a safe and respectful environment for students and staff.
  • Work collaboratively with substitute teachers to provide instruction and support to students.
  • Collect and document student progress data, collaborating with teachers to inform instruction.
  • Assist with administering assessments under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
Campus Support
  • Participate in various committees and attend required campus and/or district meetings, contributing to the development of school policies and procedures.
  • Supervise students before, during, and after school, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Assist in the safe and orderly movement of students to and from classrooms, promoting a positive and respectful school culture.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information, adhering to FERPA guidelines.
  • Perform clerical tasks, such as typing correspondence and copying materials, to support the efficient operation of the school.
  • Provide basic care and support to students who require assistance with daily living tasks.
  • Compile, maintain, and submit reports, records, and other documents as required.
  • Participate in continuing education experiences and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge, ensuring the highest level of support for students and staff.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 48 college hours or passing score on the Para Professional Assessment of Knowledge.
  • Texas Educational Aide Certification, obtainable within 10 days of hire.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with elementary-age children and knowledge of the learning process.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate a variety of classroom instructional equipment, including computers, audio/visual, and video equipment.

Work is performed in classrooms, offices, workstations, and meeting rooms. The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting/carrying work-related items weighing less than 40 pounds. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
