The Senior Vice President of Property Claims Management will oversee a dedicated team of claims professionals responsible for handling and managing claims across various lines of business, including Excess & Surplus, General Liability, Property, and Inland Marine. This role demands exceptional leadership, strategic oversight, and management of all related processes and functions.
Essential Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree is required; a Juris Doctorate is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in leading a team of claims adjusters, particularly in general liability.
- Typical positions supervised include Claims Manager, Claims Adjuster, and Paralegal.
- Must hold a valid adjuster license.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of all claims-related activities, focusing on analysis, reserve development, and execution of claims strategies to optimize loss cost management and enhance customer satisfaction in alignment with business objectives.
- Collaborate with executive leadership on loss trends, coverage, and exposure analysis for both existing and prospective business opportunities.
- Supervise internal claims personnel to ensure high productivity, efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Ensure adherence to all local, federal, and state regulations concerning claims while minimizing organizational risk and exposure.
- Engage in underwriting, actuarial, client, or broker meetings on a regular basis.
- Provide oversight and accountability for the company's engagement with key vendors, including outside counsel, experts, and third-party administrators.
- Exhibit knowledge of severity files and trends.
- Address and resolve claim issues or complaints raised by internal and external stakeholders.
- Authorize reserves and settlements for claims staff based on their requests and recommendations.
- Foster and develop organizational talent.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

- Proven experience in leading a commercial claims organization, particularly in general liability and professional lines.

- Ability to cultivate a collaborative, team-oriented environment, mentoring and motivating team members to take accountability.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize metrics and data to drive performance, ensure continuous improvement, and enhance efficiency.
- Comprehensive knowledge of claims across multiple specialty lines.
- Experience with excess/umbrella, D&O/E&O claims, general liability, and reinsurance is advantageous.
