Position Overview

The Senior Vice President of Property Claims Management will oversee a dedicated team of claims professionals responsible for handling and managing claims across various lines of business, including Excess & Surplus, General Liability, Property, and Inland Marine. This role demands exceptional leadership, strategic oversight, and management of all related processes and functions.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree is required; a Juris Doctorate is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in leading a team of claims adjusters, particularly in general liability.
  • Typical positions supervised include Claims Manager, Claims Adjuster, and Paralegal.
  • Must hold a valid adjuster license.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations of all claims-related activities, focusing on analysis, reserve development, and execution of claims strategies to optimize loss cost management and enhance customer satisfaction in alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on loss trends, coverage, and exposure analysis for both existing and prospective business opportunities.
  • Supervise internal claims personnel to ensure high productivity, efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Ensure adherence to all local, federal, and state regulations concerning claims while minimizing organizational risk and exposure.
  • Engage in underwriting, actuarial, client, or broker meetings on a regular basis.
  • Provide oversight and accountability for the company's engagement with key vendors, including outside counsel, experts, and third-party administrators.
  • Exhibit knowledge of severity files and trends.
  • Address and resolve claim issues or complaints raised by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Authorize reserves and settlements for claims staff based on their requests and recommendations.
  • Foster and develop organizational talent.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Proven experience in leading a commercial claims organization, particularly in general liability and professional lines.

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize metrics and data to drive performance, ensure continuous improvement, and enhance efficiency.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of claims across multiple specialty lines.
  • Experience with excess/umbrella, D&O/E&O claims, general liability, and reinsurance is advantageous.
