Position Overview

The Chair of Clinical Education Programs is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and management of the Department of Clinical Sciences. This role ensures the seamless integration of evidence-based clinical knowledge, biomedical sciences, and osteopathic principles for both predoctoral and postdoctoral learners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and guide the faculty and staff within the Department of Clinical Sciences in the development and implementation of the curriculum.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations of faculty and staff, providing feedback to the Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Education, and recommend actions for faculty development and recognition.
  • Oversee the educational experience of medical and healthcare profession students, fostering an environment of mentorship and scholarly activity across various learning settings.
  • Manage the Department's budget to support educational initiatives and ensure operational efficiency in alignment with institutional policies.
  • Engage in academic administrative responsibilities, including course coordination and community service, while demonstrating flexibility to support the university's mission.
  • Participate in clinical services as appropriate, contributing to the practical training of students.
  • Serve on committees and participate in outreach activities, providing leadership and expertise to students and the broader community.

Qualifications

Education: A terminal degree (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) with current Board Certification in a primary care specialty such as Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of seven years of academic experience as a full-time faculty member in a College of Osteopathic Medicine or a Graduate Medical Education program is desired.

Licensure: An active medical license is required, with eligibility for malpractice insurance coverage.
