Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join our team at Jacobs. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing instrumentation and control systems for large water and wastewater projects.

Your expertise in PLC control systems, SCADA systems, and Human Machine Interface (HMI) software will be essential in effectively designing and implementing instrumentation and control systems. You will also provide programming support for water, wastewater, municipal, and industrial clients in our local office and at client sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and troubleshoot SCADA and Operational Technology networks, including PLCs, servers/workstations, network switches, and firewalls.
  • Utilize network monitoring and anti-virus software to identify network risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Prepare design specifications and drawings, write control system descriptions, perform startup and commissioning activities.
  • Conduct site visits and testing, making recommendations for control systems improvements and designs.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines on large, complex projects to design and incorporate equipment, process, and facility control concepts.
  • Drive ownership of health and safety in all aspects of project execution, office, and personal environments.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited college/university.
  • 4 to 15 years of experience in instrumentation and controls design, PLC control systems, P&ID development, control system architecture development, SCADA systems, and networks.
  • Experience with industrial PLC programming and hardware implementation (Allen Bradley, Modicon, or Siemens, for example).
  • Experience in start-up and commissioning of SCADA systems, including troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques to maintain high availability of SCADA systems.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and ability to be licensed in multiple states (or ability to obtain PE license within one year of hire).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 to 15 years of experience in PLC and HMI control systems.
  • Experience in water and/or wastewater treatment process automation.
  • Instrumentation and controls selection and design.
  • I&C or Electrical design experience.
