Job Description

The Assistant Operations Manager - Production Planner is a key role within our organization, responsible for supporting the operations manager in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the production process. This position involves planning and managing production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and optimize resource utilization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Capacity Planning: Develop and manage capacity planning systems utilizing existing ERP systems, and expand capacity planning to include feeder process and assembly line production planning/sequencing.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and control inventory levels to ensure sufficient supply without overstocking, and coordinate with the procurement team to order necessary materials and supplies.
  • Production Planning: Develop and manage production schedules to meet customer orders and deadlines, and monitor production processes to adjust schedules as needed to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Operational Support: Assist the operations manager in overseeing daily operations and managing production teams, and ensure production targets are met and identify areas for improvement.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure products meet quality standards and specifications, and collaborate with the quality control team to address any quality issues.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Track production metrics and prepare regular reports on production performance, and analyze production data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Team Coordination: Assist in managing and developing production staff, including training and performance evaluations, and foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures, and conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support the implementation of continuous improvement methodologies, and identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to implement changes.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in production planning or a similar role in manufacturing.
  • Supervisory leadership skills.
  • Understanding of production processes and inventory management.
  • Proficiency in production planning software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
