Position Overview:

The Food Assistance Coordinator will manage the operations of the Basic Needs Pantry, ensuring that services are delivered in alignment with our organizational values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the organization and cleanliness of the Basic Needs Pantry and kitchen facilities, maintaining a hygienic environment at all times.
  • Facilitate the distribution of pantry supplies during scheduled hours and in urgent situations.
  • Serve as the primary contact for local businesses and community organizations involved in food donation initiatives.
  • Supervise and mentor community service participants and volunteers engaged in pantry operations.
  • Receive and document in-kind contributions, providing necessary receipts.
  • Maintain accurate records of all donations received.
  • Assist in organizing seasonal programs, including holiday meal distributions.
  • Prepare meals and food items for community events and feeding initiatives.
  • Collaborate with case management staff to guide and support volunteers in daily service activities.
  • Coordinate with the Thrift Store Manager to facilitate the transfer of food donations as required.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Promote a positive representation of The Salvation Army among staff, volunteers, donors, and clients, fostering community partnerships to enhance our resources.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certifications: Valid driver's license with appropriate insurance approval.
  • Experience: Proven experience in food service and community engagement.
