Mainframe Storage Expert Job Description

**Job Summary**

3M Consultancy is seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Storage Expert to join our team. As a key member of our storage team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining mainframe storage systems to ensure optimal performance and availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • **Monitor and Support Storage Systems**: Monitor and support mainframe storage systems, including DASD storage, to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • **Analyze and Configure Storage**: Analyze and configure mainframe storage systems to meet business requirements, including SMS constructs, ACS routines, and data replication.
  • **Troubleshoot Storage Issues**: Troubleshoot storage-related issues, including DASD space concerns, and provide timely resolutions.
  • **Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams**: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including disaster recovery services and other technical teams, to ensure seamless execution of tasks associated with customer disaster recovery plans.
  • **Maintain Documentation**: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of storage systems, including issue cause, action, and resolution.
  • **Provide Expertise**: Provide expertise and guidance to other team members on mainframe storage systems and related technologies.

Requirements

  • **10+ Years of Mainframe Storage Experience**: 10+ years of experience in mainframe storage, including DASD storage, SMS constructs, ACS routines, and data replication.
  • **z System Architectures**: Experience with z System architectures, including z/OS and z/VM.
  • **Storage Management**: Knowledge of storage management disciplines, including DFSMS Management, Capacity Management, and VTAM.
  • **Hardware and Software Vendors**: Experience with hardware and software vendors, including IBM and EMC.
  • **Communication Skills**: Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal communication.
  • **Problem-Solving Skills**: Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze complex issues and provide timely resolutions.

Education and Clearance

  • **Master's Degree**: Master's degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline.
  • **Clearance**: Ability to pass a Tier 2/Modest Background Investigation.
