Job Summary

This position oversees the daily operations of plant accounting and is responsible for significant portions of the balance sheet, including but not limited to fixed assets, long-term debt, other deferred assets and liabilities, and net assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply rigorous financial analysis to inform operational or strategic decision making related to Capital Investments
  • Liaise with various Health System and Campus departments and UCOP
  • Create the annual Depreciation Expense, Interest Expense, and Capital-Related Cash Flow budgets
  • Prepare financial reports and analyses for property, plant and equipment
  • Ensure proper accounting treatment of all PP&E transactions
  • Enforce necessary controls over all PP&E transactions
  • Ensure the proper recording of long term debt and coordinate regular debt due diligence activities
  • Work with internal staff and state authorities to obtain and administer grant awards for Health System programs

  • Thorough understanding of Financial Statements and Financial Statement impact of property Accounting Activities

  • Sound critical thinking skills and the ability to think creatively and strategically to problem solve
  • Six years' of progressively responsible experience in accounting
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of healthcare related accounting treatments as it relates to plant accounting
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Active CPA license
  • Ability to write policies and procedures and offer alternatives when needed
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Ability to effectively manage and motivate staff
  • Ability to develop and implement programs and improve organizational performance
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in the finance area of an acute-care facility
