CANDIDATE MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE IN LEADING A NETWORK TEAM. CANDIDATES WITHOUT MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

A combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, along with 5 to 7 years of expertise in networking and systems administration is required. Candidates should possess extensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows environments, Cisco technologies, local and wide area networks, and security protocols. Prior experience in a management role is essential.

  • Proven experience and a comprehensive understanding of SANs, backup systems, disaster recovery, and emergency preparedness are highly desirable.
  • Network certifications such as Cisco (CCNA or CCNP) and Microsoft Windows Server are preferred. Strong knowledge of network operations (LAN, WAN, SAN, network-attached devices) is necessary.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and cultivate a cohesive network team.
  • Capability to manage personnel in a collaborative environment, adhering to organizational values.
  • Skills to assess staff performance, develop training programs, and recommend improvements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, other departments, external agencies, and vendors.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to shared responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Network section staff.
  • Manage the network infrastructure, including Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN).
  • Maintain all systems servers for the organization.
  • Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to ensure a secure network environment.
  • Administer, maintain, and upgrade all servers.
  • Ensure a secure network environment is upheld.
  • Maintain all connectivity devices on the LAN and WAN, including hubs, switches, routers, and cabling.
  • Administer and maintain the organization's server infrastructure, storage area networks (SANs), backup systems, and data recovery processes.
  • Manage email servers, email archive systems, and web servers.
  • Coordinate with state agencies and other jurisdictions for network connectivity.
  • Implement network policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Identify, analyze, and procure new equipment to keep the network and servers innovative.
  • Assist in developing the IT budget and capital expenditure plans, collaborating with leadership for strategic multi-year planning.
  • Oversee contracts for network managed services and professional services.
  • Support video production for organizational meetings.
  • Stay updated on developments in PC/Networking, cybersecurity, and general IT trends.
  • Monitor and ensure timely responses to help desk tickets, including those for supervised staff.
  • Conduct capacity and resource planning, assessing network risks and developing contingency plans.
  • Maintain the organization's Disaster Recovery Plan and Continuity Plan, coordinating with the cybersecurity team.
  • Serve the needs of both internal and external stakeholders.
