Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at EvergreenHealth. As a Clinical Laboratory Assistant, you will be responsible for performing venipuncture and capillary specimen collection on patients, as well as accurately identifying and labeling all specimens following established laboratory protocol.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood samples from patients of all age groups and accurately identify and label all specimens
  • Use the laboratory information system to independently solve complex issues and navigate calls with accuracy and courtesy
  • Process all specimens in accordance with laboratory protocol, including proper handling, centrifugation, storage, packaging, and transport
  • Collect insurance and financial information necessary for proper billing and accurately enter orders and patient demographic information in the laboratory information system
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent or applicable coursework to be applied to obtain required WA State Medical Assistant Phlebotomy (MA-P) - Certification
  • Certification from an approved phlebotomy-training program with successful completion of a required internship preferred, or relevant work experience
  • Medical terminology and State of Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist (MA-P) or equivalent
  • Have and maintain current Healthcare Provider CPR certification
Desired Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience working in a clinical laboratory customer service or specimen processing role
  • Previous training and competence in dealing with the unique needs in the range of customer service situations with clinicians and their office staff
  • Working knowledge of the various government regulations specifically Medicare and the Washington state medical Test Site regulations
