Job Summary

The U.S. Department of the Interior is seeking a Recreation Fee Clerk to join our team. As a Recreation Fee Clerk, you will serve as a front-line representative of the National Park Service, answering visitor questions and explaining the area's recreational opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to visitors, responding to inquiries and providing information about park facilities and services.
  • Operate electronic cash registers, computers, or Point of Sale (POS) systems to conduct financial transactions, including issuing entrance receipts, tour tickets, and permits.
  • Inventory and restock fee program supplies, assist with ordering equipment and supplies, and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Assist with auditing fee collection program components, including reviewing shift reports, counting funds, and investigating discrepancies.
  • Prepare and complete remittance reports and bank deposits for funds donated and/or collected by others.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Appointment is subject to a background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Males must meet Selective Service Registration Act requirements.
  • You will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronic Funds Transfer Program.
  • Occupancy of government quarters may be required.
  • You must be able to handle, collect, and account for money.
  • You may be required to wear a uniform and comply with National Park Service uniform standards.
  • You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and/or shift work.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must possess one of the following:

  • A. Six months of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that demonstrates your ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of Recreation Fee Clerk.
  • B. One year of education above high school (30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours) from an accredited institution.
  • C. Equivalent combination of experience and education that, together, equal 100% of the qualification standards listed above when combined.
Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking.
