Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medication Technician to join our team at Manor House. As a Medication Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our senior residents by administering medications and providing direct personal assistance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer prescribed medications to residents according to doctors' written orders and document properly
  • Provide direct personal assistance and supervision to assisted living and memory care residents with their daily needs
  • Document daily activities, including medication administration, nursing notes, and communication with healthcare providers and family members
  • Respond immediately in case of an accident or incident involving a resident and document the incident
  • Attend training as required and complete all Relias training as scheduled
Requirements
  • Knowledge of principles or processes for providing resident and personal care services
  • Knowledge of the 5 rights of medication administration
  • Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong with a resident
  • Ability to listen to and comprehend information and ideas presented from residents and family members
  • Ability to communicate ideas and information to residents and family members
Education and Licenses

Requires the ability to use fractions, decimals, and commercial arithmetic. Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation is required. Equivalent to a 4-year U.S. high school education. Successful completion of all state-required courses and exams. Valid Medication Aide license except if working on provisional pending taking the state boards. Must have and maintain CPR and first aid certifications.

Experience

0-3 months as a nursing assistant, home health aide, or eldercare volunteer.

Special Requirements
  • Must have ability to communicate as per section 22VAC
  • Must be considerate and accepting of the aged, frail, and disabled person
  • Appropriate attire and good personal hygiene are expected
  • Must comply with and implement all Company Policies and Procedures as well as the Employee Handbook
  • Must support and promote the 'Rights and Responsibilities of Residents of Adult Care Residences.'
  • Must maintain confidentiality with regard to residents, staff, and Company information
  • Must participate in training and in-service programs as required by the Company and/or applicable State's Standards
