Electrical Engineer Job Description

Rimkus Consulting is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. As an Electrical Engineer at Rimkus, you will be responsible for providing forensic consulting services to insurance, legal, industrial, and other clients. Your expertise will be utilized to assess and determine the cause and origin of electrical failures and damages.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform investigations and analysis within the field of electrical engineering to resolve claims and legal matters.
  • Study and determine the cause and origin of electrical system defects and electrical equipment failures.
  • Prepare oral and written reports to document the causes of failure, the extent of loss, associated repair scope, and recommended remediation.
  • Provide opinions and expert testimony in litigation matters.
  • Manage multiple projects, coordinating with other experts and supporting as needed to produce client reports in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  • B.S. Electrical Engineering required.
  • P.E. License is required.
  • 2-10+ years of experience.
  • Field experience is highly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable form of transportation.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
  • High level of analytical skills.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with clients at all levels.
  • Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, including Microsoft Office Applications and computer-assisted engineering and design software.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical reports or journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Physical Demands, Overtime, and Travel:
  • Work will be performed both in an office setting and at outside locations. Employee is frequently required to stand, walk on slope roofs, sit, climb ladders, bend, climb inside attics and crawl under homes and tunnels, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to job sites.
  • This position is classified as salaried with an exempt FLSA status. Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch. There will be periods where overtime will be required.
  • This position requires up to 25% travel.
