Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of this role include:

  • Upholding a strong commitment to our exemplary safety culture, ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols while operating chemical production machinery.
  • Managing the chemical processes and systems associated with distillation columns and equipment, utilizing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) or similar control systems.
  • Adjusting controller set points to optimize equipment performance, impacting rates, quality, and yields in accordance with specific operational procedures.
  • Monitoring and documenting process data to confirm compliance with established process conditions.
  • Recording operational metrics such as process parameters, test outcomes, and instrument readings.
  • Collecting process samples and conducting necessary quality control analyses to ensure all process streams meet predefined specifications.
  • Troubleshooting issues related to plant operations, processes, and equipment, including unexpected conditions and product quality challenges.
  • Collaborating with supervisory staff to report or address issues impacting safety, compliance, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Regulating the flow of feed, product, waste, and purge streams by operating valves connected to pumps, distillation columns, reactors, storage tanks, or bulk tankers.
  • Preparing line-ups to ensure correct routing of process streams.
  • Maintaining accurate inventory records within the Inventory Management System.
  • Conducting daily audits related to RCRA, housekeeping, and safety protocols.
  • Preparing plant equipment for maintenance activities and assisting maintenance personnel with repairs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient in performing mathematical calculations.
  • Adept at analyzing data and making informed process decisions based on outcomes.
  • Capable of operating laboratory equipment to achieve precise results.
  • Strong critical thinking skills to effectively respond to various situations.
  • Ability to observe process trends and seek assistance for unusual problems.
  • Skilled in reading, interpreting, and executing detailed written instructions and procedures.
  • Excellent listening skills to accurately follow verbal instructions.
  • Familiarity with HAZCOM handling procedures.
  • Proficient in operating SCADA or Digital Control Systems (DCS).
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain a safe and orderly workplace.
  • Solid mechanical knowledge.
  • Willingness to obtain necessary RCRA, OSHA, and DOT training and apply it in daily operations.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to perform tasks in a demanding environment.
