Job Summary

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and education, in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Texas and the Houston Methodist Professional Practice Model.
  • Collaborate with the interprofessional healthcare team to manage and coordinate patient care, advocating for patients and families to identify and resolve clinical and ethical concerns.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care, prioritizing patient needs, abilities, and preferences, and ensuring timely and effective care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, using therapeutic communication to establish relationships and collaborate on care plans.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of protocols to ensure patient safety and promote high-quality care.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Nursing
  • Two years of registered nurse, advanced practice, or nurse practitioner clinical experience
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure within 60 days
  • APRN - Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Texas Board of Nursing
  • Magnet - ANCC Recognized Certification -- as Nurse Practitioner based on applicable patient population, i.e. FNP, AGNP, NNP, PMHNP, WHNP
  • BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA)
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA) -- (not required for Employee Health, Employee Health Well-Being, Primary Care and Telemedicine departments)
  • AP - Prescriptive Authority - Texas Board of Nursing
  • DEA - Narcotics License (DEA) within 6 months
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience in staff development and coaching
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and role components
  • Ability to function independently and exercise judgment in interactions with physicians, interprofessional care team, and patients and their families
Work Environment

This position may require travel within the Houston Metropolitan area.
