The Nursing Services Director is tasked with the strategic planning, organization, direction, supervision, and assessment of all nursing services delivered within the organization. This role ensures adherence to regulatory standards, implements essential nursing programs, maintains comprehensive records, and oversees the training of nursing staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess daily staffing assignments for compliance with regulations and adequate coverage
- Guide employee activities and responsibilities
- Coordinate breaks and authorize additional work hours as needed
- Conduct performance evaluations for nursing staff
- Uphold facility policies and manage disciplinary actions when necessary
- Engage in the recruitment process and address employee grievances
- Plan, organize, supervise, and evaluate all nursing operations
- Ensure adherence to regulations and organizational standards
- Participate in resident admissions, retention, and discharge processes
- Manage the nursing department budget and provide relevant financial information
- Conduct daily facility rounds to ensure compliance with standards
- Collaborate with the Administrator on staff development initiatives
- Oversee the RAI/IPOC process, recruitment, training, and staff-related matters
- Maintain licensure status for nursing personnel
- Coordinate facility functions such as Infection Control and Performance Improvement
- Represent the organization in professional and community engagements
- Ensure high-quality resident care and uphold service excellence
- Interact courteously with residents, visitors, and staff while addressing concerns
- Ensure nursing discipline and evaluations are performed as required
- Comply with legal standards, regulations, and Corporate Compliance Program
- Attend training sessions and meetings as directed
- Be available on-call for nursing emergencies at all times
- Provide oversight for documentation, nursing programs, and strategic initiatives
- Mentor nursing leaders and ensure enforcement of Abuse & Neglect policies
- Guarantee safety, resident rights, and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Strong financial acumen and management capabilities
- Flexibility to adapt to varying work schedules and occasional travel
- Effective communication skills with diverse groups
- Exceptional management abilities, including delegation
- Proficient in English, basic computer skills, and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
- Meet all health requirements as necessary
- Willingness to travel up to 10%
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing; BSN preferred
- Current RN license is mandatory
- Preferred experience of at least three years in a DON role
- Physical capabilities including walking, bending, lifting, and sitting
- Limited exposure to environmental hazards
- Adherence to safety protocols and standards
- Dialogue available for ADA accommodations upon request
