About the Position

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. is seeking an experienced Site/Civil Engineer to support our land development projects in southern Maine. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing team of civil engineers managing the design of ski resort improvements, national park projects, local urban re-development projects, transit-oriented development, and federal, state, and local projects throughout Maine.

Responsibilities
  • Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance to and may supervise, plan, schedule, and coordinate the work of junior engineers, technicians, draftsmen, or other positions.
  • Participate in new business development and be responsible for client relationships, visibility, and business development activities.
  • Participate in the proposal process and determine client requirements and develop plans, specifications, drawings, instructions, cost estimates, reports, final bid packages, and related documents.
  • Ensure that production of drawings, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Manage and support the preparation of design and permitting documents.
  • Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish needs and discuss design/permitting issues.
  • Consult with construction personnel concerning design constructability as related to field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling of construction activities.
  • Participate in professional and personal development aligned with career goals.
Requirements
  • 5-8 years of professional land development engineering experience, depending on level of education.
  • BS in Civil Engineering or related degree (a Masters degree may be substituted for 1 year of experience).
  • EIT required, PE licensure in ME strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in site layout, grading, utility design, and stormwater management.
