Job Title: Associate Counsel

Global Communities is seeking an experienced Associate Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide legal guidance and support to our global operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to management, business units, and branch offices worldwide.
  • Assist with oversight of various legal operational interests.
  • Conduct investigations into alleged violations of Global Communities Standards of Conduct.
  • Respond to ethics inquiries.
  • Review and update Global Communities online ethics training course.
  • Assess performance of ethics program and recommends and implements improvements.
  • Draft, update, and provide applicable training and guidance on organizational policies and procedures.
  • Conduct legal research and writing on multiple areas of law.
  • Interpret domestic and international laws and assist business units and branch offices understand their compliance obligations.
  • Draft and review legal documents and provides written guidance highlighting areas of risk to the organization.
  • Provide legal support to subsidiaries in connection with international financial inclusion transactions.
  • Provide guidance on corporate governance matters.
  • Lead domestic and international branch office registrations.
  • Manage outside legal counsel on domestic and international trademark filings.
  • Select, work with, monitor, and evaluate domestic and international outside legal counsel.
  • Provide legal guidance during arbitration and litigation proceedings.
  • Prepare legal responses to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
Requirements:
  • JD from an accredited Law School.
  • Member of a state bar in good standing (Maryland preferred).
  • Minimum of five years of legal experience.
  • International and/or nonprofit experience preferred but not required.
