Position Title: Internal Medicine Physician (MD/DO)

Position Summary: As an Internal Medicine Physician at Petaluma Health Center, you will be responsible for providing high-quality primary medical care in a supportive, collaborative, and innovative setting. You will have the opportunity to engage in various strategic initiatives as the clinic continues to expand and develop new programs. Your primary focus will be in an outpatient community clinic, with responsibilities that include after-hours calls, weekend clinics, supervising PA/NP staff, and collaborating with external locations associated with the center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient histories and physical examinations, order necessary diagnostics, and implement appropriate treatment plans for patients aged 16 and older.
  • Manage admissions, evaluations, diagnoses, and non-surgical treatments for patients in skilled nursing facilities and hospitals, adhering to clinical training and privileges.
  • Seek appropriate consultations for issues beyond your scope of practice or unfamiliar aspects of patient care.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients throughout their care, providing education and respecting their cultural needs.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to competence, consistently meeting or exceeding community standards of care.
  • Exhibit proficient knowledge in healthcare delivery, participating in peer reviews as per medical staff bylaws and clinic quality improvement programs.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to ensure after-hours and weekend coverage for clinic patients.
  • Supervise PA's and FNP's in accordance with established procedures, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
  • Offer consultations for adult patients with complex medical conditions.
  • Provide continuing medical education to colleagues at least twice a year on internal medicine topics.
  • Contribute positively to clinic efforts aimed at enhancing patient satisfaction across all healthcare delivery aspects.
  • Strive to meet productivity goals to improve patient access and financial sustainability while maintaining high-quality care.
  • Adhere to scheduled commitments by arriving punctually and fulfilling your entire shift or more as necessary.
  • Willingly undertake additional duties within your scope of practice as assigned.

Additional Duties:

  • Participate in medical staff and clinic meetings.
  • Maintain credentials by ensuring all required licenses are current, including California Medical License, DEA licenses, CME hours, and CPR certifications.
  • Willingly perform other duties within the scope of practice as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate degree from an accredited medical institution.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program.
  • Board Certified MD/DO with a current California License and DEA registration.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • California Medical License or Osteopathic Physician License.
  • Federal DEA Registration.
  • Medical Specialty Certification; Board certified or Board Eligible in the relevant medical specialty.
  • Maintain CME as required for certification renewals.
  • CPR/BLS Certification is mandatory.

Language Skills:

Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and verbal, is preferred.

Salary Scale: $227,000 to $275,065. Note that the compensation amounts listed do not include relocation assistance, sign-on bonuses, productivity or quality/service incentives, call pay, or extra shift incentives, if applicable to the position.
