Join our dedicated team at BrightSpring Health Services, a prominent provider in the field of Home Infusion therapy. We are currently seeking a Compounding Pharmacy Specialist to enhance our Pharmacy department as we aim to be a leading provider in the home infusion sector. As an integral member of our Pharmacy team, you will be responsible for executing both technical and administrative tasks related to the preparation, labeling, and dispensing of medications. This role will report directly to the Pharmacy Manager.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8AM-5PM

Key Responsibilities

As a Compounding Pharmacy Specialist, your duties will include:

  • Coordinating and scheduling the preparation of sterile admixtures and home medical equipment orders in collaboration with the Pharmacist.
  • Performing all necessary calculations for product preparation and obtaining validation from the Pharmacist prior to compounding.
  • Compounding sterile and non-sterile admixtures, including parenteral nutrition, antibiotics, chemotherapy, hydration solutions, and narcotic analgesics, utilizing aseptic techniques where permitted by law.
  • Preparing labels, prescriptions, and compounding worksheets while maintaining accurate records of product lot numbers and expiration dates.
  • Generating delivery and pick slips under the supervision of the Pharmacist and managing inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Ensuring that compounding areas and related equipment are maintained in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Gathering supply inventories from clients and communicating necessary information to the Pharmacist.
  • Participating in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adhering to all relevant accreditation, OSHA, FDA, and state regulations concerning infusion pharmacy and home medical equipment.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • Successful completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program; IV certification is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of relevant pharmacy experience in a home care environment.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in aseptic preparation of infusion-related pharmaceuticals.
  • General knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, calculations, and aseptic techniques.
  • Strong mathematical and communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of reading and interpreting prescriptions.
  • The ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • A valid driver's license.
