About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Trustworthy AI Researcher to research, build, and test trustworthy AI systems. This role involves collaborating with researchers and engineers to design experiments, analyze data, and develop statistical models to support proposals and ongoing projects for agencies such as the DoD, DTRA, and DARPA.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis and Modeling: Implement algorithms to enhance the trustworthiness of AI systems, analyze and verify white and black box AI systems for vulnerabilities, bias, and other desired properties.
  • Proposal Development: Contribute to technical proposals by providing statistical expertise and designing research methodologies.
  • Collaboration and Innovation: Assist in writing research papers and conference talks on topics in trusted AI, collaborate with partners and customers to understand, tailor, and deliver solutions appropriate for use cases.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Leadership: Mentor teammates with backgrounds in other fields to deliver high-quality, mathematically sound models.

Requirements:

  • A foundational understanding of statistics and demonstrated interest in careful model design and/or model validation.
  • A bachelor's or advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Quantitative Social Science, or related technical domains.
  • Familiarity with data science or ML engineering languages and tools, such as Python (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Pandas), R, Matlab, or similar.
  • 5-7 years (3-5 if PhD) of professional experience in ML engineering or data analytics.
  • Comfortable working as part of a small development team composed of researchers, engineers, and scientists.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance.

Estimated Salary Range: $88,200-$178,700 USD per annum.
