About the Role

The Technical Lead for Advanced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Solutions will provide direct program management and engineering support to a Department of Defense customer for research, engineering, prototyping, development, rapid acquisition and project execution.

You will serve as the research director for state-of-the-art AI/ML research including implementation in Defense systems, mission assurance, AI safety, AI security, and counter-AI research. This position will be located in Crystal City.

  • Work in small, targeted teams to identify emerging capabilities, organize studies and concept development, rapidly prototype and deliver advanced capabilities to the warfighter
  • Plan, oversee, and foster the portfolio of projects supporting AI/ML-related efforts
  • Evaluate contractor performance and perform quantitative evaluations of results
  • Provide oral and written briefings to senior DoD leadership, create written reports detailing assessment findings, and make recommendations to DoD customers and external partners
  • Explore and understand AI/ML developments and emerging AI-related technologies to understand how the project should adapt and grow over time
  • Work with vendors and researchers and external partners to develop and pursue a vision to ensure AI/ML is safe, reliable, and robust
  • Build, lead, inspire, and enable a diverse research team to carry out foundational, often novel, research
  • Work as a trusted, strategic partner with the customer by delivering actionable insights about emerging AI/ML-related technologies as well as with technically minded external partners
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • 15+ years of relevant experience and 5 years' experience within technical program management
  • Proven experience developing or strong technical understanding of AI/ML (primarily neural networks)
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Neural Network design and deployment, Reinforcement Learning systems implementation, Generative Networks, and Adversarial Machine Learning (AML)
  • Experience leading and directing post-doctoral research teams at the National and Defense Laboratory level
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in applying technology infrastructure and cybersecurity concepts, cybersecurity architecture and engineering principles, security of networks, systems, applications and data
  • Experience with cyber vulnerability research, analysis, and reverse engineering
  • Experience with cyber network exploitation and offensive and defensive cyber operations
  • Excellent spoken, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of operating system internals
  • Experience with hardware or weapon system prototyping
  • Experience with one or more programming languages (C/C++, Java, Python, etc.)
Clearance Requirements

Candidate will need to have a US TS SCI security clearance

Compensation

Estimated salary range: $180,000 - $250,000 per year, based on location and experience
