Job Summary

The University of Vermont College of Education and Social Services is seeking a highly qualified Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Special Education to join our esteemed faculty team. As a member of our department, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of education by teaching, mentoring, and guiding undergraduate and graduate students in the field of Special Education.

The Department of Education at UVM is renowned for its rigorous academic research, innovative teaching practices, and inclusive work environment. We offer a wide range of programs, including birth-age 21 educator preparation, curriculum and instruction, special education, and more. Our department is committed to educating and preparing outstanding professionals in education, human services, and social work.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching 8 courses per year in the undergraduate and masters special education programs. This includes teaching in hybrid, online, and in-person modalities. The ideal candidate will also have experience collaborating with faculty colleagues on cross-disciplinary teaching and service, as well as engaging with community partners in early care and education settings and public schools.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and social justice. A minimum of 3 years teaching Special Education in public schools or working in Early Intervention or community agencies is required. Additionally, a current knowledge of Special Education legal issues and federal regulation of practices in the U.S. is essential. Successful experience supervising or mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate pre-service teachers/special educators in internship placements is desirable.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
