Position Overview:

The position also involves mentoring and supervising Underwriting Analysts, ensuring the delivery of exceptional service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
Below is a summary of the primary functions associated with this role. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.

  • Evaluate and interpret insurance policy data, including aspects such as rating, quoting, binding, and invoicing.
  • Prepare and model new and renewal business with minimal oversight from an Underwriter.
  • Conduct rating tasks as directed by the Underwriter.
  • Review policies, endorsements, audits, and cancellations, addressing any discrepancies and implementing necessary changes.
  • Assist in the training and development of Underwriting Analysts within the team.
  • Process policy servicing requests, including endorsements, audits, and other company-related inquiries.
  • Manage invoicing and processing of new business and renewal binders, as well as premium-bearing endorsements and cancellations, in accordance with internal guidelines.
  • Establish new submissions in the clearance system and manage them according to established protocols.
  • Generate cancellation and non-renewal notices following statutory and contractual requirements under the guidance of the assigned Underwriter.
  • Maintain underwriting files for accounts where policies are not issued, adhering to internal procedures.
  • Oversee the pend/suspense system in line with established practices.
  • Ensure account files are maintained in compliance with company policy.
  • Respond to inquiries from insurance producers regarding accounts and technical issues.
  • Propose improvements to internal processes along with viable solutions.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in an Underwriting Analyst capacity.
  • State-specific Insurance License is preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze key components of insurance policies and certificates.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting processes, including classification principles, rating, contract administration, and property valuations.
  • Knowledge of commercial multi-line underwriting and rating.
  • Proficiency in using company automation systems.
  • Capability to develop and maintain excellent client relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Current knowledge of the insurance industry trends.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, including overnight trips.
Preferred:

  • Standard office environment.
  • Willingness to work extended hours when necessary.
  • No unusual physical demands.
